MOM FILM FEST

Join Us for Our
Online Film Festival August 21-24!

Movies to Make. People to Raise. Now in out 7th year, MOM Film Fest celebrates the often unseen and underrepresented voices of mothers working in independent film and television. MOM is designed with moms in mind, a space where motherhood is understood and never something to explain, defend, or hide. This year’s Official Selections showcase films from around the world, each created by a filmmaking team that includes a mom in a key creative role.

Your ticket purchase helps us continue building a space where moms can tell the stories they want to tell. Buy your ticket here.

Motherhood On Screen and Unseen

What have movies taught us to believe about motherhood, and how does what we see on screen compare to the realities of mothers’ lives? Join us for a thought provoking conversation examining representations of motherhood in film alongside the invisible labor, expectations, and lived experiences that often remain unseen. Through film clips, research, and real world data, we’ll explore how portrayals of mothers have evolved, what stories and experiences are still missing from the frame, and how what we see on screen can shape our perceptions of motherhood. Beyond Distribution: Building the Business Strategy Behind Your Film in the AI Era

Distribution can be an important goal, but it is not a guaranteed revenue strategy. Today’s filmmakers need to think beyond simply finishing the film, submitting to festivals, and hoping the right opportunity appears. In this session, filmmaker, educator, and strategist Landi Maduro will teach filmmakers why audience and revenue strategy need to begin earlier in the filmmaking process. As the Founder and President of Women of Color Filmmakers, CEO of Bluechild Entertainment, and Founder of Bluechild Academy, Landi will share how filmmakers can use AI as a strategy partner, not a creative replacement, to clarify who their film is for, why that audience cares, and what revenue opportunities may exist beyond festivals and traditional distribution. This class is designed to encourage filmmakers to protect their creative voice while also building a stronger roadmap for how their film can reach the right audience, create meaningful impact, and move toward sustainable revenue opportunities. As a grassroots, mom-led 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, our mission at MOM Film Fest is to serve as a career development and advocacy resource for moms working in independent film and television. With initiatives that create returnships for moms re-entering the workforce and supportive childcare solutions, we work to amplify the visibility of content made by moms in order to create job opportunities that will get #momsbackonset.

WHY SPACES LIKE MOM FILM FEST MATTER

Six filmmakers. Six mothers. Six perspectives.

Our 2026 MOM Film Fest Ambassadors share why creating space for mothers working in independent film and television isn’t just important. It’s necessary. Hear their reflections on filmmaking, motherhood, community, and the power of changing the narrative by ensuring mothers’ voices are seen, heard, and celebrated.
