During the pandemic, 3.5 million mothers living with school-age children left active work which could ultimately cost women $64.5 billion dollars in lost wages annually. Yes, billion.
On average, moms make just .75 cents to every dollar a White non-Hispanic dad makes. This number further decreases for moms from BIPOC communities where Black moms for example, make just .52 cents to every dollar compared to a White non-Hispanic dad.
According to a study by Celluloid Ceiling, 94% of the top 250 films in the year 2021 had ZERO women cinematographers. While the percentage has risen from 4% to 6%, this minuscule increase has taken over 20 years to accomplish. Society must do better.
